Hyderabad: Apollo Hospitals Group on Friday said it will hold the 8th edition of International Patient Safety Conference and 9th edition of Transforming Healthcare with Information Technology, in the city from September 13-14, 2019.

The twin conferences with a focus on addressing issues in patient safety and adoption of technology in healthcare, will witness participation of 2,500 delegates and more than 300 speakers from 120 countries. "Globally 421 million patients get admitted to hospital every year from which, 42.7 million errors are reported annually. Hence the opportunity to enhance patient safety stands wide. All errors are not intentional as no healthcare provider would want to harm a patient," said Dr Hari Prasad, President, Hospitals Division, Apollo Hospitals Group.

"We need to come with practical solutions that can be implemented to ensure patient safety in hospitals," he added.

"The event will also accommodate product launches wherein FDA approved Artificial Intelligence product, Microsoft with Apollo Hospitals will launch their product among others. Moreover, September 17 being the International Patient Safety Day, is the right opportunity for us to bring out the recommendations created in the conference which will be launched and announced on that day," the Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Group, Dr Sangita Reddy said.
