Shankar Nag, the name is synonymous with talent and humility. The late Kannada actor died in an accident some 29 years ago. Yet, the love and adulation that he enjoys among fans and in the film fraternity is something unbelievable. The Malgudi Days director and actor were one of the most sought after and talented actor in Sandalwood. People loved him, critics celebrated him and fans worshipped him. Such was the respect he had earned from people. And may we add that this trend continues today too.

It was the actor's birth anniversary on Nov.9 and fans were celebrating it with gusto. And people couldn't stop talking about his greatness. This reminds me of what Ravi Belagere had said about Shankar Nag in one of his interviews. He said Shankara was a man with a vision. He had big dreams. He was an actor who loved the stage but he dreamt big for his city and that if he was alive today he would have become the chief minister of Karnataka.

That's not all, he also said that Shankar Nag Visualised Namma Metro years ago and also wanted a ropeway at the famous hill station Nandi Hills which is few kilometres away from Bengaluru. This only goes to show that greatness of people and their vision lives even after they are gone.
