Mysuru: Education Minister Suresh Kumar has visited the house of a government school teacher, who has been in a coma for the past one year after he met with an accident in November last year. The minister visited the teacher's house on Monday at Handuvinahalli layout in Nanjangud of Mysuru district, following a request from Manjula, the wife of 52-year-old teacher Mahadevswamy

He served as a teacher in the Bhujangaiahnahundi village school. He suffered severe injuries after a vehicle hit his two-wheeler while he was going to Nanjangud. Medical treatment at hospitals has not helped.

Mr Suresh Kumar said that he visited the family to extend moral support to them from the department. Mahadevswamy has a 11-year-old son. They have suggested that the family apply for voluntary retirement on behalf of the teacher and promised to speed up the process to release monetary benefits due to him. They also promised to give a job to Manjula and arrange an advocate to fight the case to claim compensation, the minister said.

Education department deputy director Panduranga, Block Education Officer C N Raju accompanied the minister.
