Bengaluru: Days after Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar chased a KSRTC bus for refusing to pick up students waiting at a roadside in Koratagere taluk of Tumkuru district, he wrote a letter to the transport minister and deputy chief minister, Laxman Savadi apprising him of the happening.
"Some drivers and operators of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses appear to be ignorant of students as they leave school and do not stop at the bus stops. The bus driver has been convinced of the trouble for children if the bus does not stop," Kumar mentioned in the letter.
On Saturday after seeing the KSRTC bus refusing to pick up school children from the bus stop, despite their request, the minister chased the bus and blocked it on the state highway.
The driver was pulled up for the conduct by Kumar and was asked for the explanation. He was directed to compulsorily stop and pick up school-going children on their route.
"We regret the inconvenience caused. The matter has been examined in detail, the bus was traveling from Bangalore to Pavagada. The bus was carrying full capacity of 73 passengers, hence the crew didn't allow the remaining passengers/students at D.Nagenahalli. Further, we have instructed all the concerned and crew to ensure that buses to be stopped at the designated places without fail. This is for your kind information," KSRTC tweeted.
