Telangana records 577 new Covid cases; 2 deaths

Hyderabad: As many as 577 fresh cases of Covid-19 were registered in Telangana till 5.30 pm on Friday. A total of two deaths were also registered today.

With this increase, the number of Covid-19 cases in Telangana has increased to 6,48,388 while the death toll has reached 3,819. As many as 645 people have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. This increased the total number of recoveries to 6,35,895. As against India's fatality rate of 1.3%, the fatality rate in Telangana is 0.58%.

A total of 1,11,226 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Sunday taking the total number of tests conducted so far to 2,26,37,722. As of today, there are 8,674 Active Cases in Telangana State.

83 Covid cases of Delta plus variant reported in India till August 4.

A total of 83 cases of Delta plus variant of Covid-19 have been reported in India till August 4 with Maharashtra registering 33 of these cases followed by Madhya Pradesh with 11 and Tamil Nadu 10, the Lok Sabha was informed on Friday. Responding to a question on whether private laboratories are permitted to do genome sequencing of coronavirus, Minister of State for Health Bharati Pravin Pawar in a written reply said inclusion of private labs in Indian INSACOG (SARS-CoV-2 Genomic Consortium) is under consideration.
