Bengaluru: In the wake of the transport strike the west division police launched a drive on Saturday here to check exploitation of commuters by auto drivers.

However, no cases were reported in Chord road and Majestic but several auto drivers were warned in advance against charging extra fare from commuters taking advantage of the ongoing transport strike.

The commuters were badly hit due to the sudden announcement of strike by the BMTC employees as auto drivers grabbed the opportunity to make a fast buck by exorbitantly raising their fares.

A commuter from BTM, Prashanth said, "An auto driver asked me for Rs 60 extra on the meter to go from BTM to Koramangala. The fare has gone up and this is not the first time something of this sort has happened."
