The annual Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan concert will be held at NTR Kalamandiram, Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University at 6pm on Saturday.
Hyderabad: The annual Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan concert will be held at NTR Kalamandiram, Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University at 6pm on Saturday.
The participating artists are Carnatic Gotu Vadyam musician Vidwan Allam Durga Prasad accompanied by HK Venkatram on violin and Vidwan V Kamalakara Rao on mridangam, Vazhapally R Krishna Kumar on ghatam; and Hindustani musician Ustad Iqbal Ahmad Khan supported by classical singer Vivek Kumar Prajapati accompanied by Babar Lateef on tabla, Ustad Moinuddin Khan on sarangi and Zakir Dholpuri on harmonium. All India Radio will conduct the Sangeet Sammelans in 24 cities involving around 177 musicians.
Ustad Iqbal Ahmad Khan is from Dilli gharana and is the recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi award for 2014. He is a celebrated khyal gayak, and equally proficient in singing sufi ghazals, thumris, dadras, bhajans.
Born in a family of rich musical traditions, Kalaimamani Gotuvadyam artiste Allam Durga Prasad's father Allam Koteswara Rao was a renowned Gotuvadyam exponent, who was his first Guru. He later underwent advanced musical training from Kalasikhamani A Narayana Iyer. In addition to being graded the top rank artiste with AIR and Doordarshan, Durga Prasad performed at many illustrious concerts, and is known for his traditional style, tonal purity and rhythmic balance.
