Assembly seeks Central aid over rainfall deficit
Hyderabad: The Telangana Legislative Assembly on Friday unanimously adopted resolutions moved by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, urging the Union Government to provide immediate financial and technical assistance to address acute rainfall-deficit conditions across the state.
The House requested the Centre to send an assessment team to evaluate El Niño-related impacts, sanction funds from the National Disaster Response Fund, and immediately release the Central share under the State Disaster Response Fund.
Resolutions called for comprehensive aid towards crop losses, input subsidies, drinking water, fodder, livestock protection, groundwater recharge, and tank rejuvenation, alongside necessary guideline relaxations.
To support rural employment, the Assembly requested an additional 50 days of work under the VB-G RAM G scheme beyond the existing 125 days, urging the Centre to bear the entire expenditure, relax the 60-day seasonal suspension, and expand the labor budget.
