Dana insists decrepit buildings must go
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner, M Dana Kishore, on Monday instructed town planning officials to serve notices on the owners of pending 457 dilapidated structures remaining in city or else vacate the people from buildings and seize them.
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner, M Dana Kishore, on Monday instructed town planning officials to serve notices on the owners of pending 457 dilapidated structures remaining in city or else vacate the people from buildings and seize them.
The Commissioner held a meeting with zonal, deputy commissioners on various issues through video conference at GHMC main office. GHMC additional commissioners Amrapali Kata, Adwaith Kumar Singh, Sikta Patnaiak, chief engineers and other officials were present at the meeting.
At the meeting, the Commissioner said it was very sad that a 13-year-old boy died in building collapse in Secunderabad circle on Sunday. He made it clear that the remaining 457 dilapidated structures have to be demolished or the people need to be vacated and seize the buildings as soon as possible.
Dana Kishore instructed to serve memos to the officials of the town planning or whoever was delaying the demolition process in city. He said that 485 dilapidated structures were demolished in 2016, 294 buildings were demolished in 2017 and 402 buildings were demolished in 2018.
This year around 765 dilapidated structures have been identified in the city and so far only 176 buildings were demolished, he said. He instructed the officials of town planning to take action on remaining 457 dilapidated structures immediately.
Saplings distribution
The Commissioner told officials to take all the necessary measures to start the distribution of Haritha Haram saplings to the people for free of cost near temples where Bonalu would be held in the GHMC limits. Around one crore of saplings were ready in city for Haritha Haram programme, he said. Commissioner instructed the zonal commissioners to construct one rain water harvesting theme park in each zone.
175 teams to identify Aasara beneficiaries
Dana Kishore said that 175 teams have been deployed to identify the beneficiaries who are in the age group of 57 to 64 for old age pension scheme in Hyderabad district. Beneficiaries list should be prepared within July 25 and plan the everyday target accordingly, said the Commissioner to officials.
More vehicles to lift garbage in evening
To lift the garbage from the containers which were kept on the roadside, Commissioner instructed officials to deploy four mini tippers and two bob cots to lift the garbage from the containers in the evening to maintain cleanliness in the city from today. He said vehicles would be deployed every day to lift the garbage without fail and see to that this work should be done properly.
Action plan to boost self-help groups
The Commissioner said special action plans were being formulated to strengthen the 45 thousand self help groups financially and socially. He told that corporators, deputy commissioners should attend the meeting which would be held every Wednesday with self-help groups with regards to Swachh Bharat Mission, Saaf-Shandaar Hyderabad initiatives.
Two dust bins at every bus stop
Dana Kishore instructed zonal and deputy commissioners to set up two dust bins near each and every bus stop in city within a week. Take necessary action to see that each and every street vendor keeps dust bins near to their shops within August month end, he said.
