Nampally: The Minority Welfare Department and other departments increased the pace of distribution of Ramzan gift packets. From one of its centres at Haj House, the distribution work continued on Wednesday where scenes of unloading of huge loads of bundles from a huge truck were witnessed on its premises.

According to officials, about 500 gift packets per Masjid for a total of 448 mosques have been marked for distribution under the GHMC area. Besides the gift packets, Rs 1 lakh cash for organising Iftar and dinner at each mosque is also being distributed.

The GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore and all local public representatives will ensure that the gift packets reach the poor and underprivileged Muslims before Eid-ul-Fitr.

The distribution points for city outskirts include Pr. Jayashankar Indoor Stadium at Lalapet, Mahila Bhavan in Rajendranagar. Amongst these mosques, Shia (14), Mahdavia (4) and Sulaymani (2) are included in the list. The MLAs are not likely to involve in the distribution activities, as the Election Code is in force.
