Khairatabad: Former Indian Ambassador Pascal Alan Nazareth has termed the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, a 'management icon' and observed that his management technique was always based on the facts on the ground and people's pulse.

Addressing a gathering after Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) chairman K Padmanabhaiah released his book 'Gandhi: The Soul Force Warrior' on Tuesday, Ambassador Nazareth said: "Gandhi created revolution understandingly through non-violence. His methods of fighting against the mighty force not only ensured independence to India but also inspired many countries that languished in colonial rule."

Nazareth said: "Gandhi always acted based on ground realities and facts. He touched upon relevant issues concerned to common citizens and worked for change management." He observed that every management student should study Gandhi.

ASCI Chairman Padmanabhaiah felt that syllabus on Gandhi should be made compulsory for the students of humanities and sciences. Richard Saldanha, a member of ASCI's Court of Governors, and Director-General Prof Nirmala Apsingikar also spoke.
