Hyderabad : A letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi requesting her not to appoint Revanth Reddy as the next Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief has created ripples in the State political circles. The letter was written by the "loyal and senior leaders of Telangana Congress party" with no names mentioned on it or no signatures seen on it.

The loyal leaders cautioned her that there was a danger of committed and loyal leaders leaving the party or stay away from party activities rather than work under Revanth Reddy. They also warned her of a split in the party if Revanth was made the Congress head in Telangana.

It was mentioned in the letter that Revanth had an association with RSS earlier and hence, he was not the right person to give the tough fight to BJP in the State.

He campaigned extensively in Dubbaka bypoll and in GHMC elections in his Malkajgiri parliament constituency where the party fared badly, the letter stressed. The letter also made a mention of strong criticism made against Sonia Gandhi by Revanth when he was in Telugu Desam Party.

The leaders also warned that speculations were doing rounds that CBI inquiry might be ordered against Revanth on corruption charges. It was highlighted in the letter that Telangana TDP, BJP and even TRS was giving due importance to BC leaders and made them hold top posts like president or secretary-general of the party. Against this backdrop, the high-command was urged to appoint any loyal leader or any BC leader as the next TPCC chief.
