Hyderabad: Commenting on GHMC polls, TPCC working president Revanth Reddy felt that the media did not play its part for the first time. He said that the media, which is the fourth state should have been neutral reflecting the voice of the people and also enlighten them on the present state of affairs in the State.

Due to the media's functioning, every political party had to establish its own channel or publication thus impacting the democracy ultimately.

" I understand there is a business element, but only highlighting parties that gave advertisement packages and creating an atmosphere that fight was between these two parties was uncalled for," he said. The Malkajgiri MP went to the extent of saying that it was the media that defeated Congress in GHMC polls. It was not the public or the other parties that were responsible for Congress' debacle, but the blame lies with the media, he lamented.

He appealed to media to revisit the news coverage in channels or publications. Revanth also pointed out that Congress spokespersons were not even invited for discussions and debates in channels giving a picture that Congress was not even in the frame.
