Hyderabad: People can walk without any hitch on the footpaths of Tank Bund road, while enjoying the beauty of nature and the lake view. Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has planned to revamp the Tank Bund road on both the sides, especially to relay the footpath along with setting up of ornamental railing and bright illumination.

Executive Assistant Engineer, HMDA, Adam said that the HMDA has started relaying the 13. 2 mt footpath on both the sides. The footpaths are being laid with flamed granite, including granite kerbs. The amount sanctioned for relaying footpaths was Rs 13.5 crore. The work started in October first week and was to be completed by end of November but due to elections it was delayed and would be completed by the end of the year.

"In the second phase we have decided to install a bus stop, setting up of new railing, stones benches, also wooden bay would be developed for immersion and proper electrification facilities would be provided. Amount sanctioned for lightings is Rs 12.5 crore," he said.

A stronger footpath

The footpath around the Tank Bund is going to be stronger than ever with the couple of concrete layers which would add about 30 mm to the thickness. "We have laid CTC at the first place then added RCC on it, later, we laid granite flooring for the stronger path," explained the Engineer.

No more waterlogging

While acting smart on the water logging issue on Tank Bund HMDA has planned to implement the 'precast drain system' to ensure free flow of water into the sewer or storm drains during monsoons.

The water collected in the 'saucer' plates will be directly sent to the collection chamber through pipelines and it will be sent into the drain on the right-hand side and the left-hand side the water will be collected in the collection chamber and sent into the drain.

Tank Bund to shine brighter

Telangana government is trying to eye on the illumination across the city and at the Tank Bund. There is an ornamental pole laid at every 15 meters. Around 50 poles would be coming up with an electrified path of 2.2 kilometres around the Tank Bund. Poles would be made of cast iron material which would add an ornamental finishing.

No more long damages!

Cobbled stone (roughly assembled) pavement to come up in 11 locations across the Tank Bund to facilitate the traditional Ganesh immersion.

These pavements will be flexible to rearrange the patterns if it is damaged. The objective to opt for this kind of pavement is to ensure a comfortable place for the cranes during festivals and which also can be laid easily in a shorter time.
