Tech, reforms will help raise farmers’ income
Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Telangana, on Friday organised a virtual session on 'Agriculture 4.0 : Technology & Reforms Beyond Covid.' The session focused on latest technologies such as precision agriculture, drones etc, as well as reforms in shaping up the future of farming, and taking measures to increase productivity and its effect on the country’s food security
Hyderabad: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Telangana, on Friday organised a virtual session on 'Agriculture 4.0 : Technology & Reforms Beyond Covid.' The session focused on latest technologies such as precision agriculture, drones etc, as well as reforms in shaping up the future of farming, and taking measures to increase productivity and its effect on the country's food security.
During his address, Dr Rangaiah V Setlem, CEO, Indigene Protein Foods Pvt Ltd, mentioned that India is progressing multifariously and set to become number one in every agricultural commodity production in the world. He opined that agriculture is the only sector that did not get much impacted in terms of modernisation, attracting investments and development of primary infrastructure. He said that the current bills that the Government of India passed must have envisaged farmers with more freedom to choose more relevant to current global practices.
He mentioned that by passing of these bills, government must be intending for the progress of the farmers to a larger extent. Pradeep Palelli, CEO, THANOS Technologies Private Limited, said that drone technologies have several applications in agricultures and presented on some of the uses of drones in agriculture. V Purushothama Rao, a progressive farmer from Nalgonda, briefed the meeting on his innovative farming methods and opined that technology would greatly enhance the farm output. He said that reforms would help in usage of technology in farming and farmers will get better yield.
Over 75 participants who are farmers, senior level executives from industry and academia attended the session.
