Pen down continues at MRO offices in Ranga Reddy district
It is hoped that the MRO offices may be back in business again from Saturday after a weeklong ‘pen down’ protest against the brutal murder of MRO Vijaya Reddy at Abdullahpurmpet last week.
Rajendranagar: Even though, officially, the 'pen down' protest against the brutal murder of lady Tahsildar ended within a week on Tuesday, some of the Mandal Revenue Offices specially in Ranga Reddy are yet to resume their work Services such as issuance of patta pass books, caste, income, birth and death, residential etc., are put on hold as the protests have brought the entire state administration to its knees.
It is hoped that the MRO offices may be back in business again from Saturday after a weeklong 'pen down' protest against the brutal murder of MRO Vijaya Reddy at Abdullahpurmpet last week.
The offices opened on Tuesday, after the incident. But for the last three days the officials and employees continue to hold pen down as a mark of protest in Ranga Reddy district offices. People, especially students, faced lot of hardships to get the certificates issued in their names.
Most of those who visited the offices were seen returning dejected. "I have been making regular rounds to the office, but am not able to apply for birth certificate of my daughter," said Md Anwar Shareef, who visited Rajendranagar MRO office on Friday.
The services at MeeSeva centers were confined only to uploading offline entries, while the servers from other end like MRO offices was struck down completely. Meanwhile in parts of Old City, the MRO offices worked normally after a week-long pen down.
For the past two-three days the work resumed and people were seen visiting and approaching officers for processing their applications. According to the Deputy Tahsildar, Mohammed Younus, after the murder of MRO Qutubullapur on November 4, there was a statewide protest and the every mandal office in city was closed.
Even at Charminar mandal office, the staff protested and took part in the protest at Hyderabad District collectorate from November 6 to November 12, he informed.
During the protests, services such as issue of documents and certificates was put on hold for a week as a mark of protest. "Our offices started functioning from November 13 and ever since it has been working properly and taking up all the pending works. We have also started accepting new applications," Younus added.
