Secunderabad: Grand 'Bhogi Mantalu', 'Pongal Vedukalu' were celebrated in the Secunderabad Cantonment constituency on Tuesday. The celebrations began early in the morning from 5 am. Residents thronged the Bhogi bonfire at street corners or in front of apartments. They also drew colourful 'rangolis' in front of their houses. 'Haridasulu' made the rounds, rendering 'keertanas.' Following in their footsteps were 'Basavannas' in several localities. A festive atmosphere prevailed in the constituency.

Former Cantonment Board vice-president Jampana Pratap participated in the Bhogi festivities in Bowenpally. Board Member Sada Keshava Reddy joined the celebrations in Rasoolpura. Another Board Member Jakkula Maheshwar Reddy also took part the festivities in the morning. The Army officials attended the festival celebrations at the Kendriya Vidyalay, Bowenpally.
