Uppal: The residents of Lakshminarayana Colony in Ramanthapur have been suffering from overflowing sewerage for the past several days. The residents say the drainage pipes are old.

Expressing ire at official negligence, they told The Hans India that it was regrettable that no official has so far bestowed attention on the problems. "Are officials and people's representatives blind to the issue?" they questioned. They made repeated representations to local MLA and the corporator, but, alas, no efforts were made, so far.

The residents point out that at least one person in every house in the colony is sick. "Yet no officer has bothered to visit the colony for taking remedial steps," they said. While expressing surprise over the indifference of local officials and public representatives to the issues, they said that they were unable to decide whom to approach for the resolution of their grievances.

The residents fear of diseases like dengue, malaria and typhoid. Local people have renewed their appeal to officials and public representatives to pay attention to their problems at least now and recognise the existence of the colony and its residents and to rescue them from the issues.
