Soil tests will pave way for higher yields: Official

Patancheru: Additional Director of Agriculture Suresh Babu stated here on Monday that higher output could be possible after soil tests.
He was speaking after conducting an awareness programme taken up by the department for farmers on steps to check insects (Kathera and Gulabi Purugu) which thrive on maize, cotton and other crops.
Babu said every village in a mandal has been treated as a pilot village, with Kyasaram being chosen as a pilot project. He created awareness after conducting soil tests as part of the project and issued health cards to farmers, enlightening them on crops to be taken up.
Babu advised ryots to raise crops as per the advice of the department. Among the department officials who took part in the programme were Usha, Geeta, Shaik Ahmed, Sindhuja,village elders and farmers.
