Special 'Haritha Haram' (Green Drive) at Agri-University in Collaboration with Nirman NGO

Hyderabad: Four hundred rare saplings of various forest species were planted at the agroforestry farm of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Rajendranagar, on Wednesday, in collaboration with the voluntary organisation 'Nirman'.

The PJTSAU said over the past two years, the university—with Nirman's support—has planted 2,000 rare forest saplings and established groves featuring medicinal plants, fruit trees, natural dye-yielding plants, mixed forest species, mahogany, and sandalwood. Addressing the decline in greenery observed at the university in recent years, the administration is prioritising enhancing green cover by planting rare forest species—keeping future needs in mind—in collaboration with HMDA, various voluntary organisations, and corporate companies.

Participants in today's event included Dr M. Balaram, Director of Research, PJTSAU; Dr V. Ramulu, Director, Centre for Natural Resources and Environment; Seema Padman, General Manager, Flutter; Anuradha Pulla, Vice President, Nirman; Dr A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Principal Scientist & Head, Department of Agroforestry; Dr D. Vijayalakshmi; and representatives from Nirman—Tirupati, Surya, Nikhil, and Ranjith.
