Serilingampally: Protests and demonstrations were organised here on Tuesday demanding stringent punishment to the offenders involved in the gangrape-murder of Disha.

In Hi-Tec City, 200 software employees of several companies held a protest. They formed a human chain and staged a silent protest, while condemning the incident. They raised several demands while stressing that such plight should not be faced by others.

At Mind Space Crossroads, IT employees participated in a demonstration holding placards. They demanded immediate punishment to the offenders involved in the gangrape-murder. 'Hanging is the right punishment for them', the employees emphasised, citing the examples as implemented in the West.

The employees demanded introduction of 'Zero FIR' concept and giving assurance to parents that every employees would return home safely. Zero FIR, in simple terms, means that an FIR can be filed in any police station, irrespective of the jurisdictional limitations and location of the incident. This is transferred later on to the police station to which the location of the incident is allotted to. So the investigational duties will be handled by the police station to which the case is allotted to.

The protestors undertook a pledge to create an atmosphere where an employee would take the responsibility of offering protection to a colleague, thus providing a guarantee to the parents. They demanded a law providing for stringent punishment and publicising it on ration and Aadhaar cards. The participants in the demonstrations and protests included Sahith Jilukara, M L N Reddy, Vijay Yellu, Durga Sahiti, Swapna Karumanchi, Satyaveni Bodiga and Bindhu Banda.
