Hussaini Alam: To their utter shock, a private school terminated the services of 19 teachers without a proper notice, prompting them to approach District Education Officer, seeking his intervention on Monday. They also resorted to protest on the school premises in Hussaini Alam seeking explanation from the management.

Speaking to The Hans India, one of the teachers informed that despite State government orders to shut down schools during Dasara holidays, the teachers of Sultan-ul-Uloom Public School were asked to take part in orientation programme being organised by the management on September 30 and October 1. While teachers from most of the branches attended, the teachers of Hussaini Alam failed to attend.

They thought that there would be a loss of pay for two days, as earlier cautioned by the management. However, to their shock the services of all the 19 teachers, including 6 males, were terminated by officially forwarding termination letters to each of them. "Grounds were prepared for terminating us by announcing holidays for children last week. The schools were opened on Monday and teachers from other branches in Old City were asked to teach them. They are not only playing with future of teachers, but also students," rued one of the teachers.

Terming their absence as 'gross indiscipline' for not attending the 2-day workshop-cum-orientation programme conducted by management, the school management described this as 'violation of rules'. "Ours is a disciplined organisation working for four decades. This was a clear case of insubordination. Besides not attending the training, the teachers decided to take the matter like forming a union.

We tried to control the situation, but they resorted to blackmailing tactics which would directly have impact on academics and discipline of the entire organisation. Hence, we have had to terminate them," said the secretary of Sultan–ul-Uloom Education Society, Zafar Javeed. The terminated teachers are also planning to meet P Sabitha Indra Reddy, Education Minister, to resolve the matter.
