Urs of Baba Sharfuddin draws to a close
The 753rd Urs (anniversary) celebrations of Hazrath Syedna Baba Sharfuddin Soharwardi, the famous saint of Dargah Pahadi Shareef, concluded amid religious fervor on Saturday. Thousands of devotees from across the country have thronged the hillock as part of the annual celebrations.
Pahadi Shareef: The 753rd Urs (anniversary) celebrations of Hazrath Syedna Baba Sharfuddin Soharwardi, the famous saint of Dargah Pahadi Shareef, concluded amid religious fervor on Saturday. Thousands of devotees from across the country have thronged the hillock as part of the annual celebrations.
According to Dargah Committee, no funds were released for Urs this year by Telangana State Wakf Board. It is believed that due to the absence of permanent CEO and owing to the election code, funds hadn't been provided this year.
However, the celebrations were conducted by the Peerzadagan Majlis-e-Touliat committee by spending funds from their coffers. Each year, Wakf Board provides funds for the annual celebrations, but this year there was no financial assistance, said Peerzada Syed Imran, general secretary of the committee.
Syed Imran said that the government should appoint a permanent CEO, as there are pending works under Wakf Board. "The summer season has arrived, and there was a need for a mat for devotees to climb 300 steps. It was provided by Maheshwaram MLA P Sabitha Indira Reddy. She kept her promise made during elections," he added.
Speaking to The Hans India, Syed Imran said that the Urs celebrations of 'Shaheensha-e-Deccan,' 'Sultan-ul-Arefeen,' Hazrath Syedna Baba Sharfuddin Saheb Qibla Soharvardi (Pahadi Shareef) concluded on 22nd of Shaban, after 8 days of celebrations.
On its first day, Shaban 15th procession of sandal was brought from Chilla, located in Balapur (where the Baba Sharfuddin rested for 11 days before leaving for hilltop), to Pahadi Shareef. On the second day, the devotees organised procession of Sandal Bali.
The next day devotees performed the Namaz Darood and recitation of Quran at Asthana Mubarak. On the fourth day, the procession of Sarfe Khas Sandal was taken out from Aashoor Khana in Panjesha to Dargah Pahadi Shareeef under the supervision of Maulana Mohiuddin Mamooldar.
The ceremony of Chiragan was carried out at night where thousands of devotees attended and offered Niaz and later held Sama (Sufi recite) on the premises of Dargah. On a next day of Urs, a large number of devotees, especially non-Muslims performed residual Chiragan and offered Niaz.
On its last day, the devotees practiced the Qul-Shareef and Samaat-e-Quraan. Later, fateha a Tabarruk was offered among the devotees and the ceremony is concluded.
