Nampally: A large number of Vidya volunteers laid siege to the regional education commissioner office located here on Tuesday, demanding payment of their pending salaries. BC leaders R Krishnaiah and Venkatesh extended their support by participating in the protest.

Speaking to media during the protest, R Krishnaiah demanded that the state government release the pending salaries immediately. He said that about 15,000 vidya volunteers had not been receiving their salaries for the past five months. Expressing his anger over delay in payments, Krishnaiah questioned the government how employees would be able to feed their families.

Expressing fears about the economic status of the state, he said that payments to government hostels and contract workers were stopped by the government for the last six months. He alleged TRS government of misusing government funds for getting votes during the last elections. He demanded the state government to implement minimum wages to vidya volunteers and contract employees in the state.

Telangana unemployed JAC state president Mohammad Abdullah, Sanjeev Rao, R Chandrashekar Goud, Satish, Narsimha, Srinivas, Aparna, Aruna, Rajani, Ramesh, Nandu and others participated in the protest.
