Musheerabad: The BC Welfare Association condemned withdrawal of the BC Reservation Bill introduced by YSRCP in the Rajya Sabha without voting in an emergency meeting held here at BC Bhavan on Sunday.

BC leaders protested against the withdrawal of the Bill by Union Minister for Law Ravi Shankar Prasad against the parliamentary norms without voting. The meeting headed by R Krishnaiah discussed the future course of action to be taken in the context of withdrawal of the bill.

Speaking on the occasion, Krishnaiah questioned the Central government as to why it had not shown the same haste it showed during the passing of 10 per cent EBC reservations. Condemning the ruling party for not passing the BC bill, he said that BCs would continue their fight until the bill was passed.

He demanded the Prime Minister to intervene in the matter and introduce the Bill officially in Parliament. Emphasizing on the need for BC reservations, Krishnaiah lamented that BCs constitute more than 50 per cent of total population but their representation in legislatures has not crossed 14 per cent even after 70 years of independence.

Expressing concern over increasing election expenditure, he wondered how the poor BCs could become MPs without reservations. He appealed to political parties and various NGOs and civil service societies to support their struggle for BC reservations.

BC leaders Gujja Krishna, Srinivas, Gopal, G Anji, Vemula Ramakrishna, Narsimha Goud, Krishna Yadav and others attended the meeting.
