Nellore: Rajya Sabha Member Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy questioned about sickle cell anaemia screening both in the country and State.
Union Health and Family Ministry Minister Prakash Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the ‘Sickle Cell Aanemia Elimination Mission’ in Madhya Pradesh on July 1, 2023 to eradicate the disease in the country. Tests will be conducted to about 7 crore people, aged between 0-40 years in the 278 affected tribal areas, he informed. The target is to conduct 6,68,833 screening tests in Andhra Pradesh during the financial year of 2023-24.
