ALC holds green campaign in govt schools
Vijayawada: Andhra Loyola College (Autonomous) here has organised environmental awareness programmes in two government schools to promote nature conservation, pollution control and the responsible use of natural resources.
The programmes were organised by the college’s Department of Botany in collaboration with the Ecology Commission of the Andhra/Telangana Jesuit Province. The campaign also highlighted girls’ well-being, mental health and the importance of a healthy environment.
The first programme, titled “Save Nature for a Better Future,” was held at PM Shri MK Baig Government School on October 6, with around 200 students, teachers and School Parent Committee members participating. Fr J Vijay, Controller of Examinations at Andhra Loyola College, and Dr M Hussein, the school’s headmaster, attended the programme.
The second programme, “Conservation of Natural Resources,” was conducted at CVR GMC School here on Friday. NTR District Educational Officer Chandrakala, representatives of the ITDA and Samagra Shiksha, and members of the BIRDS NGO participated.
School headmaster Subramanyam and teaching staff participated in the programme, which was attended by around 230 students and teachers. The campaign slogan, “One Plant for One Student – Let Us Reduce Pollution” encouraged every student to plant and nurture at least one sapling to build a cleaner, greener and healthier future.
