Former union minister Chinta Mohan addressing a press conference at Press Club in Vijayawada on Friday
Vijayawada: Former Union minister and senior Congress leader Chinta Mohan condemned the arrests of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi and demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that the Election Commission was functioning in favour of the BJP.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mohan alleged that EVMs had been tampered with in 150 Lok Sabha constituencies and claimed that a BJP team was operating from Bengaluru. He alleged that EVM tampering was being selectively carried out in constituencies where the Opposition was weak, using Israeli technology.
Mohan also announced plans to mark the centenary of Dalit temple entry through year-long celebrations across the country. Mohan said he would visit the Tiruchanur Padmavathi Ammavari temple with 33 Dalits on October 13 to formally launch the centenary celebrations. Meetings, seminars and discussions involving political leaders, legal experts, intellectuals and social activists would be organised, including at prominent temple centres such as Ayodhya and Varanasi.
