Warangal: BJP Kisan Morcha State president Baswapuram Narsaiah on Friday alleged that the Congress government failed to provide farmers even five to six hours of quality power, despite promising 24-hour free electricity supply.

BJP and Kisan Morcha leaders, along with farmers, staged a protest at Thimmapur substation on the Warangal–Khammam National Highway, alleging that power cuts were causing paddy crops to wither. Tension prevailed after police stopped the protest and arrested several leaders.

Narsaiah alleged that the Congress government, which had promised to make farmers’ lives better, has disappointed them. Farmers were unable to draw water from borewells because electricity was not available on time, leaving paddy crops to wither before their eyes, he said. Calling it a government that “feeds on farmers’ blood” rather than a farmers’ government, he demanded the immediate restoration of uninterrupted power supply. He warned that the BJP would lay siege to the Chief Minister’s residence if the problem was not resolved.
