AAP Questions Amit Shah's Silence On Violence In Delhi
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday, questioned Union Home Minister, Amit Shah’s silence on incidents of violence that have rocked Delhi since Sunday afternoon.
New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday, questioned Union Home Minister, Amit Shah's silence on incidents of violence that have rocked Delhi since Sunday afternoon. The party's Rajya Sabha member, Sanjay Singh, addressed a media conference on Wednesday.
Close to 20 people have been killed and more than 200 people injured in multiple incidents of violence in the national capital.
AAP's Rajya Sabha member, Sanjay Singh accused the BJP of fanning violence in North East Delhi. He said that several leaders of the BJP incited people to take to violence. He also cited the example of a leader of the BJP women's wing who tweeted that the people of the capital were paying a price for voting for a party which gave them freebies including power and water. Sanjay Singh wondered if this is how the BJP sought to oppose the AAP.
AAP said that while the Delhi Police was a competent police force, it had its limits. It was in view of this that the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal had written to the Centre seeking army intervention, he said. Sanjay Singh said that he personally had been in touch with senior officials of Delhi Police all night. He wondered why the army was not being summoned.
AAP leaders said that people told them of the presence of outsiders in Delhi. AAP MLA Gopal Rai was also present at the media meet. He said that all legislators and party workers are fanning across the national capital trying to build confidence and reassuring people everywhere.
The AAP leaders appealed to people of all parties and all communities to maintain peace in the national capital.
