New Delhi: An assistant commissioner of police (ACP) who was posted at the Rashtrapati Bhavan was admitted to a Delhi hospital after he tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Several police personnel and staffers of the presidential residence were sent to quarantine.

The personnel's office is inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan building.

A month ago, residents of around 115 houses in the Rashtrapati Bhavan complex were quarantined after a relative of an employee posted there tested positive for the virus.

No employee of the President's Secretariat had tested positive. A Covid-19 patient hailing from central Delhi had died on April 13 with co-morbidities at the BL Kapoor Hospital but was neither an employee of the secretariat nor lived inside the estate.

But it was learnt that a family member of one employee who lives in the Rashtrapati Bhavan complex had been in touch with the deceased, following which all the seven family members were sent to a quarantine facility and were tested for the virus.

One of them tested positive for coronavirus, while the other members' test came out negative.
