New Delhi : The Election Commission is going to present the voter ID card in high-tech format along with making it safer and more accessible. National Voters Day On January 25, more than 1.46 crore voters of the country can get the gift of digital voter I-card.

The Central Election Commission is preparing for this. It is named Electors Photo ID Card (EPIC). If everything is correct, this facility will be available before the upcoming five state assembly elections.

The digital voter I-card will have two QR codes, one containing the voter's photo and population information and the other with dynamic data. In this, information about elections and voting dates etc. will be updated in his area. The aim is to provide an alternative to voter slips but the commission will also continue with paper slips. The digital voter I-card, compliant with and maintaining safety standards, will be achievable under the optional system but for all electors.

The process of getting the voter ID card to the voters has been a tough task for the commission. In such a situation, the Commission has increasingly concentrated on digital options. It can also be stored with other documents in DigiLocker, a government-protected digital document.

According to the information received from the sources of the Commission, it will be possible to download the EPIC and secure it in DigiLocker immediately after verification of the voter to create a Voter I Card. This will free the voter from the long wait for the card and the long process after verification. At present, the Commission will keep this facility voluntary, that is, if the voter wishes, he can also get the voter ID card.

To get a digital card, the voter will have to register by registering his mobile or email with the help of Voter Helpline app, from where the card can be downloaded after verification with the help of password. For security, a maximum of six cards can be downloaded to a mobile number. Not only this, it can be verified by the Commission and can be downloaded only on the registered number. There are plans to keep it free of any kind.
