KTR meets Smriti Irani, seeks Centres support for Kakatiya mega textile park

New Delhi: Minister of IT and Municipal Administration and Urban Development, K T Rama Rao here on Tuesday met the Union Textiles Minister, Smriti Irani to seek her support for Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, Warangal and for establishment of Mega Powerloom Cluster at Sircilla under Comprehensive Powerloom Cluster Development Scheme.

Explaining the measures taken by the State government for developing the country's largest textile park spread over 1,200 acres in Warangal where state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities would come up through the development strategy based on the 'Fibre to Fashion' concept, he said the park was in line with the draft policy of 'Development of Manufacturing Regions for Textile and apparel Sector (MRTA),

It would be the only park being developed in the country to encourage the complete value chain in the textile sector, he said and added that MoUs had been signed with 14 large textile and apparel companies with a total investment of Rs 3,020 crore.

The Park had already received commitment of FDI of about $ 145 million from M/s Youngone Corporation, South Korea, he said pointing out that the government had separately submitted proposals for grant support under the Scheme of Integrated Textile parks and Integrated Processing Development Scheme for the park.

He also pleaded for setting up of an Common Effluent Treatment Plant with Zero Liquid Discharge with a total outlay of Rs 897.92 crore for infra of the project.

He reiterated his demand for full support to the Mega Powerloom Cluster at Sircilla which envisaged economic advantage, social advantage and environment advantages to the Powerloom Cluster.. He also explained the efforts of the government to introduce geo-tagging of powerlooms in the State.
