Rahul B, scientist, Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), Goa, had said that, "The pre-monsoon showers this year were deficient. The 49mm of pre-monsoon showers received last year were received only over five days or so. Due to thunderstorms, there is heavy rainfall within a short time. The lack of thunderstorms this year has caused deficiency in the pre-monsoon rainfall."
