Apart from 1,300 writers from across the world, 600 writers and poets from TS will also participate in the convention. The convention coincides with the International Mother Language Day and promises to provide a great opportunity to promote Telugu in the country and abroad

The two-day Third World Telugu Writers Convention will begin at Sri Krishnaveni School in the city on Saturday. Kendriya Hindi Samithi member and organising committee president Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad on Wednesday said that 1,300 delegates, including Telugu writers and members of Telugu Associations from Mauritius, America, Canada, England, France and many other countries would attend the convention.

“About 600 writers and poets from the neighbouring Telangana State would also participate in it. Thirteen seminars would be held on various topics during the two-day convention,” Prasad said. Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad said, “The convention, which coincides with the International Mother Language Day, will provide a great opportunity to promote Telugu in the country and abroad.

There is an urgent need to protect authentic Telugu from the influences of other languages on it.” According to the organisers, Justice Jasti Chelameswar, Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, actor Tanikella Bharani, Suddala Ashok Teja, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, comedian Brahmanandam and others will also attend the event. Former MLC Chigurupati Varaprasad, Krishna District Writers Association president Guttikonda Subbarao, general secretary GV Purnachandu, Venna Vallabha Rao, Gumma Sambasiva Rao and others were present.
