A US-based game design company Supersuit has launched globally the world's first wearable platform 'SuperSuit' that incorporates gesture control technology with outdoor gaming. First launched at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, 'SuperSuit' reduces screen time, increases social interaction, encourages physical activities and supports non-violent gaming.

"Outdoor gaming is slowly losing its relevance owing to the shrinking outdoors in urban spaces and safety concerns in suburbs. We are determined to bring back gaming in its true avatar by amalgamating the concept of outdoor gaming with gesture-control technology," Rajat Dhariwal, Co-Founder and CEO of Supersuit, said in a statement.

'SuperSuit' comprises two units a vest and glove. The laser tags on the gaming gear works with gesture control technology. While the vest records hits and displays scores in form of lights, audio and haptic feedback, the glove enables the interactivity between players with triggers to send beams.
The suit's accompanying smartphone app also allows parents to monitor their children's fitness data and track their location.

The company has appointed, Alice Brooks, the founder of wired toy building company Roominate. Apart from her, Rajiv Patel, owner of US-based product development studio Lift Projects and creator of first FitBit mobile app, has also been roped in as the head of design. "We are excited to have toy industry veteran Alice and UX expert Rajiv on board the SuperSuit team with a shared vision of an active and balanced childhood," Dhariwal added.

The company also announced a fresh round of investment from Ratan Tata and founders of unicorn companies Flipkart (Binny Bansal), Ola Cabs (Bhavish and Ankit) and Freshdesk (Girish Mathrubootham). The most recent investments have been raised from Ratan Tata, chairman of the TATA conglomerate. The company has raised fundings of over $2.5 million till date. 'SuperSuit' will be available for pre-order from September this year.
