The state level cultural competitive programme Kala Utsav 2016 has started with a bang and cheerful delights of the students at Bishop Grassy high school in the city on Wednesday.

The state level cultural competitive programme Kala Utsav 2016 has started with a bang and cheerful delights of the students at Bishop Grassy high school in the city on Wednesday. The two day programme is organised by the state school education department and sponsored by the central ministry of Human Resource department. The state HRD minister Ganta Srivivas Rao and other department officials took part in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao said that the art forms and culture should be imparted to the students at the school level and provides support for their artistic skills. The government is focused in upbringing the young artists with required scholarships and financial aids and allotted Rs 100cr for the welfare of traditional arts. He also stated that the cultural activities and training would be implemented in all the government schools of the state.

Over 400 students came forward for the participation from various schools of 13 districts. The theme of the event is ‘Living traditions of tribal, folk and traditional arts, where the students need to perform traditional numbers. The arrangements of accommodation and food have been made for all the candidates who participate in the event.

The competitions were conducted in four art forms like Music, Dance, Drama and Visual arts. The winners of the Kala Utsav 2016 AP would be selected for Nationals and the winners would be presented a prize money of Rs 80,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 for the students.
