JLR had launched the petrol variant of the Discovery Sport HSE in 2016. The car was launched at a price tag of Rs 56.50 lakh. The price was then hiked to Rs 58.79 lakh. The automaker has now dropped the price of the car by Rs. 7 lakhs and the SUV now costs approximately Rs 51 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

Demand for petrol vehicles is increasing again and this could be one of the reasons for the price cut. While the company officially hasn’t yet confirmed the drop in price, dealers are offering discounts of approximately Rs 7 lakh for the petrol SUV. The vehicle is powered by a 2.0-litre Si4 petrol engine that makes 236 HP of power and 240 Nm of torque, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.

The Discovery Sport comes equipped with tons of features for safety like automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, passenger airbag cut-off switch, perimetric alarm with remote panic alarm, ABS with EBD and six airbags. The SUV also gets other features like a panoramic sunroof, adaptive xenon headlamps, LED tail lamps, multiple USB charging points and premium leather upholstery.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport diesel was launched in 2015 and the automaker added the petrol engine to the line-up in 2016. It competes with the BMW X3, Volvo XC60, Mercedes GLE and Audi Q5 and is available in 5-seater and 7-seater trims.
