Sumadhura Kala Niketan, a 44 years old cultural organisation, striving for promoting culture in the city by conducting monthly programmes and comedy playlet competitions for the capital city, had conducted a play ‘Akshara Kereetam’ by Gangotri , Pedakakani.

The writer of the play ‘Akshara Kireetam’ Dr PV Ramkumar tried to spread the message that the knowledge is not just because of books and education, but it should come from selflessness.

The writer also tried that the society should cultivate the habit of improving and helping the other without expecting any returns. With rich experience, the director Naidu Gopi handled the subject and presented the drama tidily. Though the play was slow at some stages, it was not felt by the audience, thanks to the artistes’ performance.

The artistes Naidu Gopi, Gummadi Nageswara Rao, B Baburao, KV Balaji, P Nagireddy, Ch Rajitamurthy, T Lakshmi and M Lakshmi Tulasi performed well. T Sambasiva Rao excellently composed the background score. The other technical aspects were taken care of by Ganapathi (Makeup), Ratnam (Lighting) and Nageswara Rao and Chalapati (stage craft). The team was led by Dr Chittineni Sivakrishna.

In connection with Telugu Rangasthala Dinosthavam, the organisers felicitated Vemuri Nageswara Sarma, Gundu Narayana, Dr P Brahmanandam, T Madhukumar, R Vasudevarao, BV Syam Prasad, E Ramesh, and ES Pavan Kumar for their best service to the theatre.

Samanthapudi Narasaraju, President, PV Bhaskara Sarma, Secretary of the organisation organised the event. Dr MC Das, Dr D Kailasa Rao and others were also present.
