If everything had gone according to plan, DSK Benelli would have been ready to launch its adventure-tourer, the TRK 502 in India by this festive season. Due to sundry reasons, DSK Benelli has planned to launch the bike in early 2018.

The motorcycle was first unveiled at the 2015 EICMA and showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. Benelli says, currently only the alloy-wheel and road tyre version are ready and that the spoked wheel and off-road tyres version is still under development and will take a few more months to get ready.

Benelli feels that offering the alloy-wheel variant will make the TRK 502, more of a sports-tourer than an adventure-tourer and will not make any sense for the Indian market as Benelli wants it to be positioned as an adventure-tourer only (the TNT 600 GT is already on sale and is a sports tourer). Hence Benelli decided to stick to the spoked wheel variant and delay the launch.

The Benelli TRK 502 will be offered with a new liquid-cooled four-stroke fuel-injected 500cc mill that comes coupled to a 6-speed gearbox and produces a good 48 HP of power and 45 Nm of torque. The Indian spec bike might be offered with a 19-inch wheel at the front and 17-inch at the rear. Benelli says ABS will be standard on the TRK 502.
