SAAP summer residential coaching camps underway
Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) summer residential camps for Kabaddi, Archery, Athletics and Table Tennis started at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium, Cherukuri Volga Archery Academy, Andhra Loyola College, VP Siddhartha Public school and Siddhartha Mahila College indoor stadium in the city on Friday. Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) summer residential camps for Kabaddi, Archery, Athletics and Table Tennis started at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium, Cherukuri Volga Archery Academy, Andhra Loyola College, VP Siddhartha Public school and Siddhartha Mahila College indoor stadium in the city on Friday. About 270 boys and girls have been learning skills from SAAP appointed coaches.
State and National level medalists were selected for these residential coaching camps to improve their talent. SAAP is bearing all these camps' expenses like accommodation, food, diet and coaching. Several summer residential camps are being conducted in the state and of them four camps were allotted to Krishna District Sports Authority (DSA).
These residential camps will officially be inaugurated either at IGMC stadium or Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala. Minister for Youth Services and Sports Kollu Ravindra will inaugurate these camps. According to District Sports Development Officer (DSDO) Md Sirazuddhin, 40 boys and 40 girls (archers) were selected from all 13 districts for the residential camp.
The coaching camp has been conducted with the support of Andhra Pradesh Archery Association (APAA), he added. About 100 athletes selected and were taking coaching at Andhra Loyola College and VP Siddhartha Public school, he added.
“Kabaddi residential coaching camp is only for girls and 50 players are selected for this camp. Table Tennis camp meant for Under-14 boys and girls and 40 talented players selected,” he shared. These camps have been conducted with the support of concern state associations, he said. SAAP is aiming for best results not only in National but in international levels as well.
