Amma Samskritika Kendra and Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College jointly organised a classical vocal concert on Thursday evening in the auditorium of the music college.

Amma was established in 2013 to conduct classical music programmes duly encouraging young talent. Along with musical progrmmes the organisation is also promoting devotional activities.

As a part of its programme, the vocal concert of Popuri Charimathi Pallavi was arranged. Pallavi started the concert in Begag raga varnam and followed it by traditional kriti ‘Siddivinayakam’ in Shanmukhapriya ragam.

The concert also had other keerthanas like ‘Sadhinche O Manasa’ in Aarabhi ragam, ‘Gowri Sukumari’ in Vasantha ragam, ‘Marivere gati evvaramma’ in Anandhabhiravi ragam, ‘Pakkala nilabadi’ in Kharaqgari priya ragam.

Charumathi rendered the Kalyani ragam with full grip and confidence. Excellent instrumental support was rendered by K Subrahmanyam Raju on Violin, Kundurthi Aravind on mridangam and K Srinivas on kanjeera for this item.

The concert was concluded by Thillana in rageswarai ragam. Earlier the devotees chanted the Vishnu Sahasra Nama parayanam. N Ch B Acharya, K S Govindarajan and others were present on the dais for a short meeting.
