Minister meets agitating contract asst professors

Vijayawada: Minister for Endowments Pydikondala Manikyala Rao met the agitating assistant professors working on contract basis in Acharya Nagarjuna University here on Monday and expressed his solidarity.

He assured that he would solve the problems of the assistant professors working on contract basis by taking the issue to the notice of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He felt that there was a need to solve problems of the assistant professors working on the contract basis.

The assistant professors working on contract basis have been demanding job security following decision of the government to conduct online examination through the APPSC to select the assistant professors. If the recruitment process is completed, the contract workers working in the 14 universities in the state will have no work.

They will lose their jobs. Taking the problem into consideration, the assistant professors working on contract basis had launched relay fast camps at the concerned universities to mount pressure on the government to accept their demand.
