Kakinada: The AP Student Youth JAC demanded that the government extend the TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) examination date. About 7,000 D Ed (Diploma in Education) students would benefit from the extension of the previously announced date and urged the government to permit them for TET.
All the D Ed students staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Friday. They raised slogans against the government and demanded extension of last date to apply for TET. The JAC urged the government to conduct their first year internal exams of D Ed as the government had not conducted the first year examination for the students.
“Students who enrolled in the D Ed 2016-18 courses would lose the opportunity to appear for TET, if the government conducts the exam in the previously announced date,” said the JAC. The students condemned the government’s in failure to conduct their exams as per schedule.
The JAC further urged district Collector Kartikeya Mishra to take the issue to the notice of the government.Later, the JAC leaders submitted a memorandum to the Collector. The JAC’s district convener Penke Raviteja, Co-convener Prathipati Bulli Raju and D Ed students from across the district participated in the protest.
