Eluru: The 40th anniversary of Bommi Ranga Rao Memorial Library was conducted at Kothapeta under the aegis of All India Youth Federation (AIYF) and CPI 44th Division Committee here on Sunday.

CPI Eluru City Council secretary Puppala Kannababu, former MLA Maradani Ranga Rao, AIYF district secretary Uppuluri Hemashankar, Cheneta Karmika Sangham district secretary Kadupu Kannayya were the chief guests at a public meeting held on the occasion. Bommi Murali presided over the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, the City CPI secretary Kannababu said that the CPI workers with a view to creating awareness on book reading established the Bommi Ranga Rao Memorial Library at Kothapeta.

Cheneta Karmika Sangham district secretary Kadupu Kannayya recalled the services of Communists, who strived for the development of society and solve the problems of downtrodden.

He said that many people were utilising the services of this library. Former MLA Maradani Ranga Rao said that several Communist leaders sacrificed their lives to serve the poor. Later, the organisers felicitated the people who donated newspapers to the library over the years.

The chief guests distributed blankets to the poor.CPI leaders S Sanjiva Rao, Chintala Suryanarayana, Siriki Ramana, Library Committee member Reddy Nageswara Rao, 44th division CPI Secretary Pala Ramakrishna participated in the programme.
