Students take part in Sankranti Carnival

Kakinada: School students celebrated Sankranti Carnival at Chakirevu Cheruvu village here on Monday.

Melukolupu Seva Samithi president Bonthu Kanaka Rao supervised the carnival arrangements. The students from Sandhya Gurukulam with the women in the village celebrated ‘Pedda Pandaga Sambaralu’ (Sankranthi Carnival). They placed rangolis on the streets and performed puja with devotion to ‘Gobbemmalu’ with flowers.

Teacher Jainu Devi explained the significance of Sankranti festival to all the students. Dandumenu Venkata Lakshmi, Gubbala Nagu, B Ganga Bhavani, G Ganesh, N Maha Lakshmi and others participated.
Later, organisers distributed prizes to the winners in the cooking competition.
