Eluru: West Godavari District Collector K Bhaskar said that non-resident Indians (NRIs) have come forward to establish digital classes at a cost of Rs two crore in 100 more schools in the district.He conducted a review meeting with education officials at Collector’s meeting hall here on Thursday.

The Collector said that as part of digital classes establishment programme, several NRIs and voluntary organisations had come forward to set up the classes in 295 schools. Out of the total cost, Rs 65,000 would be collected from local people and old students. The remaining Rs 1.4 lakh would be donated by NRIs and voluntary organisations.

He instructed the Mandal Educational Officers and headmasters of concerned schools to take responsibility for the donations from locals and old students. He said that the books on moral science, Physical education, Health, professional skill development and other subjects have been sent to all the schools.

The officials should take special care to impart training in two professional skill development training programme, in every school besides the subjects. He directed district educational officials to prepare proposals to set up 330 kitchen cum storeroom buildings in every school with a cost of Rs 9.78 lakh.

He expressed anger over the tribal welfare engineering officials for not completing the 41 buildings even after six months of the sanction. He said that out of 41 buildings, the engineering department had completed only four.

He also expressed his dissatisfaction over the non-completion of development of playgrounds in the schools under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).

The Collector directed DEO to suspend Tallapudi In-charge Mandal Educational Officer K Ratnam as she lied on the School Organising Committee meetings.District Educational Officer CVG Renuka, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Project Officer Brahmananda Reddy and others participated in the meeting.
