Vijayawada: Government offices such as Tribal Welfare Department, Amaravati Development Corporation and Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority celebrated Republic Day with patriotic fervour.

Tribal Welfare Department director Gandham Chandrudu hoisted the national flag at his office here. Speaking on the occasion, Chandrudu said that various welfare programmes were taken up by the department to help targeted sections. “Before the end of current financial year, the department will take up some more welfare programmes for the development of the tribals,” he added.

The officers and staff of Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) celebrated Republic Day on a high note. The ADC chief engineer, T Moses Kumar hoisted the national flag and garlanded the photo of Mahatma Gandhi. The ADC Superintendent Engineer, AV Satyanarayana, executive engineer Narasinha Murthy, forest department officer M Obul Reddy and others were present.

APCRDA Commissioner Ch Sridhar hoisted the Tricolour CRDA office here. He said that the dream project of Capital Amaravati first phase work would be completed by the next Republic Day. “All the officers and staff are striving to make it on time,” he said.

The Vijayawada Division of South Central Railway celebrated Republic Day at Mini Stadium here. R Dhananjayulu, Divisional Railway Manager graced the occasion as chief guest. He inspected the parade contingents of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Scouts and Guides and received ‘Guard of Honour’.
