Ongole: Farmers from Uppugundur and Idumudi felicitated the District Superintendent of Police, Bhusarapu Satya Yesubabu on Wednesday. They expressed gratitude towards SP for helping them receive money from the management of a cold storage, which rejected their claims after suicide of its clerk.

The farmers from Uppugundur and Idumudi villages stored their produce from various crops in a cold storage at Uppugundur. It was a regular practice for them and they do it through the clerk of the cold storage Sachindra Kumar. But due to unknown reasons, the clerk committed suicide and the police found that the cold storage owner Srinivasa Rao and his aide Mahesh were responsible for it and booked a case on them.

The farmers were denied access when they went for release of their stock on receipts issued by Sachindra Kumar. For want of justice, they approached the SP Satya Yesubabu, who ordered the local police to help the farmers meet the management of the cold storage. After discussions, the management issued bankers cheques for the value of the stock from the farmers honoring the cold storage receipts.

On Wednesday, the farmers met the SP and appreciated his concern for them. They felicitated the police officer as a token of respect and gratitude. The farmers said that as there were many cases pending on cold storages in the district, they had almost lost hopes on their hard earned money. They thanked the SP for standing on their side and helping them receive the money in a short time.

The SP said that he promised all help as per the legal provisions available. He said that everyone was happy as the management of the cold storage paid the farmers as per the commitment.
