Kakinada: The East Godavari Police caught three Maoist couriers while one Moist surrendered before the Police in two different incidents. The district Superintendent of Police, Vishal Gunni disclosed the details at district police office here on Wednesday.

Noted Maoist Madakam Yerrayya alias Rishi surrendered before the district SP, Vishal Gunni here on Wednesday. The SP informed that Maoist Yerrayya, attracted the Maoism and joined in the legion in the year 2002 and got promoted to the ACM (Area Committee Member) in 2005. The SP said that he was vexed with the doctrines of Maoism and fled to Hyderabad and leading his life as a labourer. Gunni said that he finally surrendered voluntarily in a thought to lead his life with his wife and children.

Gunni further informed that Moist Yerrayya took part in many important attacks on police. The SP further said that Yerrayya played an active part in killing the Sub-Inspector Durga Charan Mishra in the year 2005 at Motu village and in Balimela Rocket Launcher incident. Gunni immediately announced a 20,000 reward to him and told that he would write a letter to the District Collector for his rehabilitation. He also informed that he would write a letter to the Malkangiri SP to sanction the cash reward on Yerrayya’s head.

Referring to another incident wherein three Maoists were arrested, the SP informed that the three Maoists were held along with Rs 70,000 in cash while the Yetapaka police were conducting the cordon search under the instructions from the OSD Anbu Rajan and SDPO Dileep Kiran on Tuesday evening. The SP said that the all the three Maoists-- Madivi Rama, Molumuri Srinivasa Rao and Payam Jogarao-- belong to Dummugudem mandal of Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

He said that courier Molumuri Srinivasa Rao owns a medical shop and works as an RMP (Registered Medical Practitioner) and supplied medicines worth Rs 60,000 to the Maoists. Gunni also said that the couriers Madivi Rama and Jogarao took the help of the other courier Srinivasa Rao to go to Hyderabad for an eye treatment for Madivi Rama.

The Yetapaka police took them into custody when they were going to Hyderabad, the SP added. Chinturu OSD Anbu Rajan, Rampachodavaram ASP Ajitha, Yetapaka SDPO Dileep Kiran, Additional SP (operations) Ravi Sankar Reddy and others participated.
